Deep Purple - Come Hell or High Water

After the band's 'final' tour, they all agreed that 'come hell or high water' they would never tour together again. So when they re-grouped in 1993 and embarked on yet another world-wide tour to celebrate their 25th anniversary, what better DVD album title!

Footage for this DVD was taken from their live-gig at Birmingham's NEC on the 9th November 1993 and features the 'Mark 2' band lineup.

You get songs taken from a wide spectrum of the band's career, including tracks from albums such as 'Smoke On The Water', 'Perefct Strangers', 'Machine Head' and 'In Rock'. A slight disappointment for me was that there was nothing from two old and new favourites of mine, 'Burn' and 'House Of Blue Light'. Be that as it may, the track listing is nevertheless powerful and features a good representative sample of Purple's music; it includes:

(1) Interviews - there are 10, often exceedingly short interview segments ranging in topics from touring (41s), music (12s), Blackmore (1m 51 s), changing tour (1m 7s), favourite DP albums (1m 53s), strange things (3m 42s), intros for songs (1m 13s), legends (1m 14s), the battle rages on (1m 57s) to the future (2m 32s). These are basically the interview segments you get in between the songs.

(2) Biographies - you get 4 or 5 textual slides on each of the Mk 2 band members.

(3) Full Lyrics - the words for each of the songs featured on the DVD.

(4) Band Line Up - you get the band's line-up from the early Mark 1 days (Evans, Lord, Blackmore, Paice, Simper) through to Mark 7 (Gillan, Lord, Morse, Paice, Glover).
